Articles & Spot Recommendations
July 2020 – Present
Creatively written spot recommendations, itineraries and blogs for a new, independent travel app.
"I've really been happy having you on board - your work has been excellent and it's a huge relief and time-saver for me as well to have someone else on content. I appreciate the research you put into it to make it sound so authentic."
Urbanaut is a travel itinerary and guide app that curates recommendations from locals in Indian and international cities. It’s a fresh addition to an inundated travel market, but its convictions set it apart– Urbanaut only aims to curate locally-recommended, offbeat and out-of-the-box places that you may or may not find on your typical tourist itinerary.
The founder of Urbanaut reached out to me to explore a long-term engagement where I create content for their app, blog and social media. For the apps, I create spot recommendations based on existing tips we get from locals and others that I curate through the Instagram rabbit hole and following inspiring people. For the blog, I create posts that organize must-see spots based on overarching themes, such as the best bookstores, a day out in Salzburg, or must-visit insider spots in Goa.
Since I joined the team in July 2020, I took over most of the content production. The app has seen a boost in downloads and plenty of people have shared and re-shared recommendations after testing it out for themselves. The blog posts have driven traffic and made Urbanaut a lot more well-known among the creative community.
"Sound of Music and Mozart, anyone? Salzburg might have contributed much to the film and music industries, but if that’s where your mental image of the city starts to blur, we’re here to help shine a light on other must-dos, must-sees and must-haves. The Austrian city has so much to offer to discerning visitors. From cobblestoned high streets to hole-in-the-wall wine bars, there’s enough and more reason to block off a few hours any day."
